We did it! For the last four years, educators and education supporters have advocated around the clock to provide better, more equitable funding for our public schools. After all our hard work, on February 12 the Maryland General Assembly overrode Gov. Hogan’s veto making the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, and billions in new funding for our schools, a reality.
This historic progress will help us increase staffing, expand student programs, and raise educator pay. It is also a transformational step towards more equitable opportunities and schools for every student in Maryland, no matter their zip code. It will finally end the annual underfunding of our schools that has been hurting our students and schools for far too long.
Your activism to achieve this once-in-a-generation win should be celebrated. And if there’s any time that the hard work and activism of educators deserves to be appreciated and honored, it’s now. Join MSEA on March 3 at 8:00 p.m. for a special virtual celebration including special guests and giveaways!
