MSEA will be in Ocean City this month hosting the 157th Convention and Representative Assembly, October 18-19.
With more than 500 delegates representing local unions from across Maryland, elected delegates will do the business of the union over two days—including hearing from new President Paul Lemle and Vice President Nikki Woodward, taking action on bylaw amendments, resolutions, and new business items, organizing for MSEA’s PAC, and taking part in a Union Organizing Power Hour and a Half with guest speakers and activities all focused on expanding union organizing.
“We’ll be showing delegates how organizing is the essential power-building mechanism for stronger unions and stronger contracts that attract and retain great employees in our schools,” said President Paul Lemle. “We know that the stability of our staff leads to successful schools, supportive communities, and improved outcomes for all students and school staff.”
Not a delegate? Don’t worry, there’s still a reason to go to OC on a nice fall weekend— more than 20 workshops, presented by expert educators, are waiting for you. Strands include super-relevant areas for educators like: Building an Instructional Toolkit, Personal Growth and Empowerment, Social Justice in Our Schools, Technology in Our Profession, and Trauma-Informed Classrooms.
Register onsite on Friday, October 18 at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center. No pre-registration required and FREE to MSEA members! Interested in getting more involved in your union? See pages 16–17 for information on the 2025 MSEA elections. Most local elections follow a similar schedule and include the opportunity to add your name to local positions.
