MSEA Ethnic Minority Recognition Awards Policy and Guidance
Before beginning work on your nomination form, please take a moment to review MSEA’s Ethnic Minority Recognition Award Policy and Guidance document. It will assist you in assuring that your nominee meets the award criteria and that your nomination form is submitted properly. It can be found by clicking
HERE.
DEADLINE: 11:59pm on November 1 of the prior year in which the award is to be given. Late or incomplete nomination forms will NOT be considered.
Please complete this form to nominate a candidate for the MSEA Ethnic Minority Recognition Awards. In order to be considered complete, this submission form must also include the nomination forms from your secondary nominators.
Each nomination form must include at least two (2) but no more than four (4) secondary nominators.

Note: Only active, retired (includes life), student, or staff members of MSEA (or NEA) are eligible to nominate a candidate or serve as a secondary nominator. Nominators are required to provide their MSEA Member Number.
After collecting the completed secondary nominators’ forms, please upload the forms in the space provided at the bottom of this nomination form. The MSEA Minority Affairs Committee will review submitted nomination forms and will make recommendations to the MSEA Board of Directors for final approval.

Award Nominee Criteria
All nominees for the MSEA Ethnic Minority Recognition Awards, regardless of the award category, should meet the following criteria:
*Demonstrates leadership on public education issues.
*Fosters increased public understanding of public schools in American society.
*Promotes a positive image of public education on behalf of students, parents, and educators.
*Encourages and promotes improvement in Maryland’s public education system.
Education Award: What contribution(s) has the nominee made to the improvement of education in the state of Maryland?

NOTE: Nominees in this category must be employed in Maryland’s public education system and be a member of the United Education Profession.
