Becoming a Trauma-Informed Educational Ambassador

When

This professional development course is designed to promote advocacy among educators in building a safe and trauma-aware school. Participants will review the prevalence and complexities of childhood trauma, their effect on the developing brain, and the subsequent impact on student behavior and learning. The focus will be on how educators can take a leadership role in promoting change among colleagues, parents, and the community to begin effectively building a safe and trauma-sensitive learning environment. Participants will share lessons learned and challenges yet to be realized in two sessions of small breakouts.

This course is offered in conjunction with Trinity Washington College for graduate credit and does include a nominal tuition cost.

There will be three sessions for this course. They will be held synchronously on November 6, 9, and 20 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This course is exclusively for MSEA members.
