Mark your calendars and prepare to join us for MSEA’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration and Racial Social Justice Summit on Saturday, January 14. This year’s theme is I am Somebody! Leading the Change for Equitable and Just Schools, Communities, and Beyond. This one-day combined event will convene educators, students, community members, and experts to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy, recognize award winners, and provide engaging workshops that further our work for racial and social justice for students and educators. The keynote speaker for this year’s celebration is Dr. Eddie Glaude, Jr., James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor and Chair of the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University and author of the New York Times bestseller Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for our Own.
Workshop topics will cover the various intersections of the racial and social justice spectrum. The cost for the event is $10 for members and children, $20 for non-member attendees. There will be morning workshops and afternoon workshops that bookend the Dr. King Celebration from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Individuals will be able to choose what segments they wish to attend. The costs are the same for any level of attendance. Registration is now open. Click on the registration button above.
